Hongkun Belting / Acid & Alkali Handling
Chemical Resistant Conveyor Belt
Hongkun supplies rubber conveyor belts with chemical-resistant covers and NN nylon or EP polyester fabric reinforcement. They are intended for conveying materials containing acids or alkalis in chemical, fertilizer and paper plants.
Choose the cover for the actual chemical, concentration, temperature and contact conditions. Select the fabric carcass—the reinforcing layers inside the belt—for the conveyor tension and layout.

01 / Manufacturer specifications
Acid and Alkali Immersion Specifications
Hongkun’s supplied technical sheet lists three immersion conditions and their property-change limits. Use the chemical identity and concentration together when reviewing a belt specification.
Swipe the table to view all columns.
| Sheet category | Immersion liquid | Listed concentration | Temperature / time | Volume increase limit | Strength decrease limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A1 | Hydrochloric acid (HCl) | 18% | 50°C / 96 h | ≤10% | ≤10% |
| A2 | Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) | 50% | 50°C / 96 h | ≤10% | ≤10% |
| A3 | Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) | 48% | 50°C / 96 h | ≤10% | ≤10% |
These are manufacturer-declared specification limits, rather than individual test results. A1, A2 and A3 are the category labels shown in the supplied sheet.
50°C / 96 h describes the immersion test condition. Confirm the continuous operating temperature, exposure duration and compound suitability for your application separately.
Before ordering, agree on the test method, concentration basis and strength measurement. Match any supporting report to the proposed cover compound.
02 / Product construction
NN Nylon or EP Polyester Fabric Reinforcement
The supplied product description offers nylon or polyester fabric reinforcement beneath a chemical-resistant rubber cover. Choose the carcass and covers together for the conveyor duty.
Swipe the table to view all columns.
| Component | Available construction or selection input | Confirm with the quotation |
|---|---|---|
| Top rubber cover | Chemical-resistant material selected for the conveyed medium. | Compound, chemical exposure and required cover thickness. |
| Fabric carcass | NN nylon or EP polyester fabric options. | Belt strength, ply count, tension, troughing and take-up requirements. |
| Bottom cover | Rubber cover specified with the complete belt. | Thickness, pulley contact and any chemical exposure beneath the belt. |
| Finished belt | Dimensions and supply form selected for the order. | Width, length, overall thickness and joint requirements. |
Review flexibility and troughing against your conveyor geometry. Confirm operating elongation and take-up travel for the selected carcass.
For reinforcement options, see our fabric conveyor belts. The chemical exposure still needs its own cover-compound review.
03 / Industry applications
Chemical, Fertilizer and Paper Plant Conveyors
These belts are intended for material handling where acidic or alkaline substances contact the belt. Identify the actual material and process liquid at each transfer point.
Swipe the table to view all columns.
| Industry | Application to review | Key selection details |
|---|---|---|
| Chemical plants | Bulk solids or residues containing acidic or alkaline substances. | Chemical identity, concentration, moisture, temperature and exposure time. |
| Fertilizer plants | Raw materials, intermediate materials or finished products with chemical contact. | Material composition, residual process liquid, abrasion and loading conditions. |
| Paper and pulp plants | Conveying duties involving chemically affected material or process residues. | Actual chemicals, cleaning liquids, belt contact conditions and mechanical duty. |
For filtration equipment, review the separate vacuum filter belt product. Drainage features, equipment dimensions and chemical compatibility require a filter-specific specification.
04 / Cover selection
Match the Belt to the Actual Chemical Exposure
An acid resistant conveyor belt or alkali resistant conveyor belt must be selected for a defined medium. Send the process conditions alongside the product name.
Medium
Identify the Chemicals
Provide the chemical name, concentration and mixture composition. Include residual liquids, contaminants and cleaning agents that contact the belt.
Exposure
Describe Contact Conditions
State material and liquid temperatures, contact duration and whether exposure is continuous or intermittent. Include any washdown cycle.
Conveyor
Define the Mechanical Duty
Provide load, belt speed, working tension, pulley diameters and loading arrangement. Note abrasive particles, sharp material or impact.
The three listed liquids provide specific reference conditions. Other chemicals, mixtures and operating conditions require a separate compatibility review.
05 / Acceptance requirements
Check the Compound and Immersion Report Together
The relevant report should identify the rubber compound and the immersion conditions used. Agree on acceptance criteria before production.
- Medium: liquid identity, concentration basis and mixture composition.
- Method: test standard, edition, specimen preparation and conditioning.
- Exposure: temperature, duration and measurement timing after immersion.
- Results: volume change and the defined strength property before and after exposure.
- Order match: compound identity and relevance to the proposed belt construction.
ISO 1817 describes methods for measuring the effects of liquids on rubber. Its mention here is a testing reference, not a statement that this product has been tested to that standard.

07 / Buyer questions
Chemical Resistant Conveyor Belt FAQ
What is a chemical resistant conveyor belt?
It is a conveyor belt with a cover compound selected for defined chemical exposure. Hongkun offers fabric-reinforced rubber construction for acid- and alkali-containing material handling.
Which acids and alkalis are listed in the specification?
The supplied sheet lists 18% hydrochloric acid, 50% sulfuric acid and 48% sodium hydroxide. Each condition uses immersion at 50°C for 96 hours.
What do the 10% limits mean?
The sheet limits volume increase to 10% and strength decrease to 10% under the stated immersion conditions. Confirm the strength measurement and acceptance method with the order.
Is 50°C the maximum operating temperature?
The table gives an immersion temperature of 50°C. Continuous operating temperature must be confirmed for the compound, medium and conveyor duty.
Can one belt handle every acid, alkali or solvent?
Compatibility depends on the actual medium, concentration, temperature and contact conditions. Other chemicals and mixtures require review before a compound is selected.
Can the belt use NN or EP fabric?
The supplied product description offers nylon or polyester fabric reinforcement. Confirm the fabric type, strength rating, ply count and dimensions in the quotation.
What determines the chemical resistant conveyor belt price?
Price depends on belt dimensions, reinforcement, cover compound, thickness, quantity, supply form and agreed testing. Send your specification and chemical exposure details for a quote.
