Hongkun Belting / Cold-resistant fabric conveyor belts

Cold Resistant Conveyor Belts

Hongkun manufactures cold resistant conveyor belts for bulk material handling in low-temperature environments. Cotton, nylon or polyester/nylon fabric reinforcement is combined with a natural rubber and butadiene rubber cover blend selected for elasticity, impact resistance and cold resistance.

Specify the cold-resistance class, cover-performance type and complete belt construction together. Send your lowest operating temperature, cold-start conditions and belt dimensions for a factory quotation.

Fabric Reinforcement and Cold-Resistant Covers

The fabric carcass carries belt tension. Available reinforcement families include cotton canvas (CC), nylon fabric (NN) and polyester/nylon fabric (EP). The cold-resistant rubber cover is a separate specification from the reinforcement type.

Hongkun uses a natural rubber (NR) and butadiene rubber (BR) blend for the cold-resistant covers described here. The finished belt specification includes the fabric grade, ply count, belt strength, dimensions and top and bottom cover thicknesses.

For reinforcement details, review our fabric conveyor belts. Confirm the selected carcass and cover combination against working tension, pulley diameters, material load and the lowest site temperature.

C1 and C2 Cold-Resistance Classes

C1 and C2 identify the cold-resistance class. The declared product temperature ranges below follow the supplied technical table; confirm the range for the ordered construction and operating conditions with the quotation.

Cold-resistance classDeclared operating temperature rangeDetails needed for order approval
C1−45°C to +60°CLowest ambient and belt temperatures, shutdown exposure, startup load and conveyor geometry
C2−60°C to +60°CLowest ambient and belt temperatures, shutdown exposure, startup load and conveyor geometry

A declared temperature range does not by itself establish that a loaded conveyor can restart after an extended shutdown at the lower limit. State cold startup and continuous running requirements separately.

H, D and L Cover-Performance Types

H, D and L describe the cover-performance type: tear-resistant, abrasion-resistant and general-purpose respectively. This classification is separate from C1 and C2. Include both requirements in the inquiry and confirm the available combination for the finished belt.

Cover typeDescriptionTensile strength, ISO 37 (MPa)Elongation at break, ISO 37 (%)Abrasion volume loss, ISO 4649 (mm³)
HTear-resistant type24450120
DAbrasion-resistant type18400100
LGeneral-purpose type15350200

These are cover-rubber reference values from the product specification. They are not finished-belt tensile ratings or measured results for an individual order. Agree on test editions, acceptance limits and required inspection documents before ordering. The tensile and abrasion columns do not constitute a separate tear-strength test result.

Low-Temperature Cover-Rubber Indicators

The supplied technical table lists the following tensile cold-resistance coefficients. Test temperature and declared operating range are separate fields.

Cold-resistance classCoefficient test temperature shown in the tableTensile cold-resistance coefficient
C1−45°C≥0.3
C2−50°C≥0.2

The coefficient test method, conditioning period and calculation definition must be agreed for the order. The C2 coefficient entry at −50°C is not evidence of a finished-belt cold-start test at −60°C.

If your purchase specification requires low-temperature bending, startup or endurance evidence, include the required method and acceptance criteria in the inquiry so the available documentation or testing scope can be confirmed.

Applications in Cold Environments

Cold-resistant conveyor belts can be specified for outdoor material handling in cold climates and for conveying in refrigerated or frozen-storage areas, subject to the actual material and conveyor duty.

ApplicationSelection details to provide
Outdoor bulk conveyingLowest winter temperature, wind exposure, shutdown duration, loading conditions and material characteristics
Refrigerated or frozen-storage conveyingOperating temperature, cold-soak duration, cleaning conditions, material and required belt construction
Existing cold-weather belt replacementOld belt marking, dimensions, pulley sizes, startup conditions and photos of cracking, stiffness or other damage

For direct food contact, specify the destination market and required compliance documents. Cold resistance alone does not establish food-contact approval. Oil exposure, flame resistance or other additional requirements need confirmation with the selected cold-resistant compound.

Cold Startup and Continuous Running

For startup assessment, provide the temperature after shutdown, time spent stationary in the cold, whether the belt starts empty or loaded, and the pulley arrangement. For continuous running, provide the operating duration, belt speed, tension, ambient temperature and material temperature.

These conditions describe different duties. Cover-rubber test values should be reviewed alongside the complete belt and conveyor requirements; they do not replace finished-belt startup or repeated-bending evidence where that evidence is required.

Details for Your Factory Quote

Send the belt width, required length, total thickness, top and bottom cover thicknesses, and existing belt marking or drawing. Add the requested C1 or C2 class and H, D or L cover type, if known.

Include the material, capacity, belt speed, working tension, pulley diameters, lowest ambient temperature, material temperature and shutdown/startup conditions. State the required supply form, joint arrangement, quantity, destination and delivery date.

Hongkun will review the feasible construction and dimensions and confirm the proposed specification, inspection requirements and commercial terms. If the old specification is incomplete, start with belt photos and conveyor information.

Buyer FAQ

Is a cold resistant conveyor belt the same as a cold-spliced belt?

No. Cold resistance describes performance in low-temperature service. Cold splicing describes a method of joining a belt. Joint materials and installation conditions need their own approval for the selected belt and site.

How do C1/C2 differ from H/D/L?

C1 and C2 identify cold-resistance classes. H, D and L identify cover-performance types. Neither classification replaces the carcass specification or complete finished-belt review.

Can I select C2 only from a minimum temperature of −60°C?

Use the temperature as a starting point, then provide the cold-soak duration, startup load, pulley sizes and operating duty. The declared range and the −50°C coefficient entry do not establish a universal −60°C restart capability.

Can Hongkun supply an EP cold resistant conveyor belt?

EP is one of the reinforcement families described for this product. Send the complete strength and ply specification, dimensions and low-temperature conditions so Hongkun can confirm the finished construction.

What determines price and lead time?

The carcass, cold-resistant compound, cover type, dimensions, quantity and agreed testing or documentation affect the quotation. Confirm price and delivery against your order specification.
