Hongkun Belting Multi-Ply Fabric & PVC/PVG Solid Woven

Fabric Bucket Elevator Belts

Hongkun supplies fabric bucket elevator belts for new equipment and replacement projects. The range covers multi-ply rubberized fabric belts and PVC/PVG solid woven belts.

EP multi-ply fabric is Hongkun's main textile carcass option for bucket elevators. Other multi-ply fabric materials include CC cotton, NN nylon and polyester/cotton, subject to the application and confirmed supply specification.

Send your existing belt specification, dimensions or bucket hole drawing for a quotation. Belt construction, attachment strength and splice design are reviewed together.

Multi-Ply Fabric and Solid Woven Constructions

Fabric bucket elevator belts use two different carcass structures. Multi-ply belts combine separate rubberized fabric layers; solid woven belts use an integrated woven carcass.

Multi-Ply Rubberized Fabric Belts – EP, NN, CC and Polyester/Cotton

The fabric plies carry belt tension. Rubber between the plies bonds the layers, while outer rubber covers protect the carcass.

CC, NN, EP and polyester/cotton identify fabric materials within this multi-ply family. They are not four separate carcass structures, and CC or NN is not a subtype of EP.

Fabric materialYarn constructionSelection considerations for bucket elevators
EP polyester/nylonPolyester warp and nylon weftHongkun's main multi-ply option. Low longitudinal stretch is a selection advantage; confirm working elongation, transverse support and bucket attachment strength.
NN nylonNylon warp and nylon weftFlexible fabric with good impact resistance. Its greater stretch can require more take-up allowance; check the actual load and tensioning arrangement.
CC cottonCotton fabricA legacy fabric option. Review its lower strength and greater stretch, and check moisture exposure before specifying it for replacement duty.
Polyester/cottonFabric combining polyester and cottonAn alternative fabric material. Confirm the yarn construction, strength and elongation rather than assuming performance midway between CC and EP.

EP is the main option presented here, not the name of the entire multi-ply family. The required belt rating and ply count remain separate specification items.

PVC/PVG Solid Woven Belts

Solid woven belts use an integrated textile carcass rather than separate rubberized fabric plies. PVC and PVG identify cover/construction variants within this family.

PVC belts use PVC covers; PVG constructions add rubber covers over a PVC-impregnated solid woven carcass. Confirm the exact cover material and elevator-specific construction for the order.

Do not specify a solid woven belt by copying an EP ply count or rubber-cover combination. Bucket-bolt holding, working tension and splice compatibility need their own review.

Fabric Bucket Elevator Belt Specifications

Specify the carcass family first, then confirm the finished belt dimensions and operating requirements. Ordinary conveyor belt size tables do not define bucket elevator belt supply limits.

Multi-Ply Fabric Belt Specifications

Specification itemConfirmation for the quotation
Fabric materialEP as the main option; CC, NN or polyester/cotton where specified and confirmed
Fabric grade and ply countState separately; confirm the complete belt rating and allowable working tension
Belt width and lengthTo the approved elevator drawing; confirm cut length and splice allowance
Covers and finished thicknessConfirm top/bottom rubber covers, compound and finished belt thickness
Elongation and pulleysCheck elongation at the stated load, pulley diameters and available take-up travel

Material identifiers alone do not establish the finished belt's strength or lifting capability. A change of fabric material requires a complete construction review.

PVC/PVG Solid Woven Belt Specifications

Specification itemConfirmation for the quotation
Belt type and ratingState PVC or PVG and the required complete-belt rating
Belt width and lengthTo the approved elevator drawing; confirm cut length and splice allowance
Covers and finished thicknessConfirm the cover material, cover thicknesses and complete belt thickness
Bucket attachment and spliceReview bolt holding, hole pattern, fasteners and the compatible splice system
Operating and safety requirementsConfirm tension, elongation, pulley requirements and any required test documents

PVC/PVG dimensions and ratings are confirmed for each elevator application. EP fabric grades and multi-ply size ranges do not apply to this construction.

Tensioning and Splice Review

Assess elongation at a stated load and confirm the available take-up travel for the proposed construction. Include any history of repeated shortening or tension loss.

Confirm the splice before approving the cut length and nearby bucket positions. A photo of the current connection helps with replacement review.

Bucket Mounting Holes to Your Drawing

Mounting holes must match the bucket drawing and selected bolts. Show the hole diameter, cross-belt center distances, bucket pitch and edge distances on one drawing.

Identify the first bucket's position relative to the splice or belt end. Hole processing must suit the selected multi-ply or solid woven carcass.

For replacements, send photos of the bucket backs, bolts and old hole pattern. Check enlarged or damaged holes against the original dimensions before copying them.

Bucket Attachment Strength and Reinforcement

A belt's nominal tensile strength and hole dimensions alone do not establish suitability for a bucket elevator. The belt must also support local loads around the bucket bolts.

Before production, review:

  • Bucket and material loads acting on the bolt area.
  • Hole layout, edge distances, bolts and washers.
  • Local tear and bolt pull-through risks.
  • Transverse support and any additional reinforcement required.
  • Splice strength and actual working tension.

Bolt pull-through occurs when a loaded bucket's bolts or fastening hardware pull through the belt. Review the complete attachment arrangement for either carcass family.

Any additional reinforcement is specified for the application. It is not assumed to be standard in every fabric construction.

Applications and Replacement Belts

Grain, feed, fertilizer and mineral-powder elevators need a construction selected for their material and equipment. EP is Hongkun's main multi-ply option; suitability still depends on the complete belt design.

Application detailInformation to provide
Conveyed materialProduct name, particle size, oil content or chemical exposure
TemperatureNormal operating temperature and short-duration peaks, if relevant
Elevator dutyLifting height, belt speed, bucket size and load
Existing equipmentPulley diameters, take-up arrangement and splice

For grain and feed applications, confirm any required antistatic, flame-resistant or food-contact properties before ordering. Neither an EP designation nor a PVC/PVG label proves compliance by itself.

For a replacement, send the original marking and photos of the cut edge, holes and splice. Do not replace a multi-ply belt with solid woven construction, or vice versa, without reviewing equipment compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does EP describe every multi-ply fabric belt?

No. EP identifies polyester-warp and nylon-weft fabric. CC, NN and polyester/cotton are other fabric materials within the multi-ply family, not types of EP.

Can any fabric conveyor belt be used after drilling holes?

The proposed belt needs an application check first. Review bucket attachment strength, transverse support, working tension, pulley requirements and the splice before approving it for elevator use.

Are PVC/PVG solid woven belts specified by an EP ply count?

No. They use an integrated woven carcass. Confirm the complete belt rating, covers, bucket attachment and splice requirements separately from multi-ply fabric specifications.
