Steel Cord Bucket Elevator Belts for High-Tension Vertical Lifting
Hongkun manufactures steel cord reinforced rubber bucket elevator belts for demanding vertical bulk-material lifting systems. We supply belts for equipment manufacturers and replacement projects.
Longitudinal steel cords carry belt tension with low operating elongation. The selected construction must also support bucket loads, mounting holes and the splice.
Send your belt drawing or elevator operating data for a project-specific quotation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can steel cord elevator belts be used for N-TGD bucket elevators?
Yes, when the belt construction matches the specific equipment design. Provide the model, operating loads, hole drawing, pulleys and splice requirements for confirmation.
Can a steel cord elevator belt withstand 180°C?
Selected heat-resistant constructions can withstand instantaneous peaks up to 180°C. This does not mean continuous operation at 180°C or apply to every steel cord belt.
Confirm the compound, exposure duration and test conditions for your order. Material temperature and actual belt temperature must also be distinguished.
Can mounting holes be customized?
Yes, to an approved drawing that accounts for the cord layout and bucket loads. Confirm diameter, row spacing, bucket pitch and edge distance before production.
How is the splice method selected?
The splice must match the belt construction and required loads. Pulley dimensions, temperature and installation access also affect the selection.
Does lifting height alone determine the belt construction?
No. Height affects the load, but bucket weight, material load, speed, starting conditions and take-up travel also matter. Use the equipment tension calculation.

Steel Cord Belt Construction
A bucket elevator belt carries both its own tension and the loads transferred through bucket bolts. Hole placement must match the cord layout.
| Component | Function and specification review |
|---|---|
| Top rubber cover | Protects the bucket-side surface; select thickness and compound for the material and service conditions. |
| Longitudinal steel cords | Carry the main tensile load; confirm the rating, cord diameter and cord pitch. |
| Bonding rubber | Bonds the cords into the rubber body; confirm compatibility with the selected construction and temperature conditions. |
| Bottom rubber cover | Protects the pulley-side surface; confirm thickness and compound with the pulley and service conditions. |
| Optional transverse reinforcement | May support bucket attachments and resist local tearing where the approved design requires it. |
| Bucket mounting holes | Coordinate hole diameter, row spacing, bucket pitch and edge distance with the cord layout. |
| Approved splice system | Must suit the belt construction, required working tension, pulley dimensions and available installation space. |
Bucket Attachment Strength and Reinforcement
Longitudinal cords and transverse reinforcement serve different purposes. Longitudinal cords mainly carry belt tension; transverse reinforcement can help distribute loads around bucket attachments.
A tensile rating alone does not establish bucket attachment strength. Review bolt pull-through, local tearing, reinforcement and the remaining load-carrying structure after hole processing.
Mounting holes and the splice must be reviewed together before production. A standard horizontal conveyor belt specification is not an elevator belt approval.
Heat-Resistant Steel Cord Elevator Belts for Cement, Slag and Fly Ash Handling
Specify a heat-resistant construction when the actual exposure requires it. Hot powder temperature does not, by itself, define the belt temperature.
Continuous Duty and Short-Duration Peaks
Selected heat-resistant steel cord elevator belts can withstand instantaneous peaks up to 180°C. This is not a continuous operating temperature or a rating for every construction.
Confirm the applicable rubber compound, exposure duration and supporting test conditions for your order. Also confirm whether the stated temperature refers to the material or the belt.
| Temperature detail | Information needed for selection |
|---|---|
| Continuous operating temperature | Normal material and actual belt temperatures during steady operation. |
| Short-duration peak temperature | Highest expected temperature, exposure duration and frequency. |
| Bulk material temperature | Temperature at loading, including any hot lumps or process variation. |
| Actual belt temperature | Expected or measured temperature at the cover and carcass, where available. |
| Stops and retained material | Whether hot material remains in contact with the belt during shutdowns. |
Cover wear, bonding and splice performance also need review for hot service. Steel cords alone do not establish a heat-resistance rating.
N-TGD Bucket Elevator Applications
Steel cord belts can be specified for suitable N-TGD bucket elevator configurations. Compatibility depends on the equipment design and confirmed belt specification.
N-TGD refers to the elevator application, not a complete machine offered on this page. Hongkun supplies the belt component.
- Raw meal transport to kiln-feeding systems
- Raw meal and cement silo feeding
- Cement grinding mill discharge
- Slag grinding mill discharge
- Fly ash vertical conveying
- Cement packing and storage systems
Bucket Elevator System Reference Matrix
The following values are equipment reference data supplied to Hongkun. Bucket width is not belt width, and system capacity is not a belt performance rating.
| Bucket width (mm) | 250 | 315 | 400 | 500 | 630 | 800 | 1000 | 1250 | 1400 | 1600 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bucket water-fill volume (L) | 5 | 6.5 | 14.6 | 18 | 29 | 37 | 58 | 73 | 99 | 114 |
| Conveying capacity at Φ = 100% (m³/h) | 85 | 117 | 225 | 280 | 450 | 570 | 950 | 1255 | 1547 | 1780 |
| Conveying capacity at Φ = 75% (m³/h) | 63 | 88 | 168 | 210 | 338 | 428 | 712 | 941 | 1160 | 1335 |
| Lifting height, shaft center distance C (m) | >100 | >100 | >100 | >120 | >120 | >120 | >130 | >130 | >130 | >130 |
Φ is the bucket filling factor. Bucket volume is the water-fill volume, as stated in the supplied reference.
Lifting height C is the center distance between the head and boot shafts. The values describe reference equipment configurations, not a guaranteed Hongkun belt operating envelope.
Capacity depends on the equipment configuration and operating conditions. Confirm belt speed, material behavior, bucket arrangement and design loads for your project.

Replacement Belt or New Elevator Project?
Machine model and belt width alone cannot establish the required construction. The belt must match the loads, attachment design, pulleys and operating conditions.
Before sending your inquiry, use our bucket elevator belt measurement and quotation guide to organize the information you already have.
Path A – Replacement Belt
Send the existing belt specification and these details:
- Existing belt photos, including the cut edge and damaged areas
- Belt width, total length and finished thickness
- Strength marking or available cord information
- Hole pattern, hole diameter and bucket spacing
- Splice details and photos
- Elevator model, if available
Do not copy an old specification without checking the reason for replacement. Repeated hole damage or splice failure may require an engineering review.
Path B – New Elevator Project
Send the equipment drawing and these operating details:
- Conveyed material and required capacity
- Lifting height and bucket type
- Bucket spacing and belt speed
- Head and boot pulley diameters
- Normal temperature and short-duration peaks
- Required belt tension or engineering calculations
Include starting conditions and any limits on take-up travel. State which dimensions are fixed and which remain open for design review.
Factory Manufacturing and Quality
Hongkun supplies steel cord reinforced belts with drawing-based dimensions and bucket hole processing. Rubber compound and construction options are reviewed against the operating requirements.
The video near the top shows a steel cord bucket elevator belt and its exposed cord ends. It is a product view, not a strength or temperature test.
- Confirm the steel cord construction and rubber compound before production.
- Approve belt dimensions, hole layout and splice requirements together.
